Batman Arkham Asylum Review
So this is the first time I have played a full batman game where batman wasn’t made of Lego so this is a new thing for me but anyway I should be getting better at this by now haha.
So for me I have only recently started getting into the super hero and sci fi genres in the last 3 years, well actually at 16 when I realised I should be me and not what other people think of me. The reason for me mentioning this is because I don’t know a whole lot about the Batman series so some characters where new to me.
Anyway this is the first game in the batman series that was made but Arkham Origins is the first in order (Hopefully that makes sense), either way it was the first game I played in the series. For me this is a good game but not a great game.
One of the reasons why I’m not a huge fan of this game is mainly the combat and one specific boss.
The reason why I don’t like the combat is because it’s basically a one button mash and for me this is not combat if I just have to press one button. Yes you do need to press one other button if you want to avoid getting hit while hitting someone else but still it doesn’t feel as good as pressing a number of buttons for different moves. For example X to punch O to kick and so one, most of the time you can literally place the controller down and just mash that one button and you will beat any fight without losing any health.
Now for the boss battle I don’t like, it is again Ivy and her big plant. The reason why I hate this is because she is the second last boss and she is so easy I got hit once and the only reason why is because my phone went off and I got distracted. I was easily avoiding all those attacks by walking away and I took almost half her health by just throwing a batarang before I was meant to do so. For me when a game is to easy it is boring as hell as there is no challenge at all. For me gaming is a challenge otherwise whats the point.
But the graphics for a 2009 game where amazing and I was actually surprised with it at first and then it carried on impressing me with the way it looked.
When I was first playing the game and saw the map I was disappointed as it was extremely small but then when I entered the first building I saw that the game itself was actually quite big, however I was annoyed by how much back tracking I had to do as I had to see the same place over and over again.
I paid £6.99 for this game and to be honest if I had to pay more than £10 I would have been disappointed with my purchase.
I rate this game about 6.5/10 mainly because of that boss battle and the combat otherwise it would have been great.
Anyway this has been Aaron Morrsi and I’ll see you next time.
