Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 1 Review

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt Season 1 Review

This is a Netflix own made series about a girl who has been forced into a cult and be in an underground bunker for 15 years. Once she is released along with the three other women in the bunker, she want to see what life would be like for her in New York City.

So anyway when I first saw that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt was a Netflix own made series it went straight onto my watch list. After watching the first episodes I then went to watch the other 12 episodes in 3 days. This series is really unusual and it is not something that I have ever heard about or never mind seen. I think this is a really unique idea and the people behind the show should be very proud of what they have created. Each episode is around 25 minutes which is the perfect length for a comedy show in my opinion.

Anyway about Kimmy, the reason why she was in a cult is because a reverend in her home town kidnapped her when she was in 8th grade which is Year 9 in Britain so she is between 13-14 year olds at the time of kidnapping. In the bunker with her was another kidnapped child, a kidnapped Spanish women and another women who willingly joined the cult once the reverend told her about it.

So the way in which Kimmy and the rest were found was by a telepathic pig, but you don’t find this out until the later episodes when Kimmy step dad comes and visits her because he has been suspended by the police for being just plain terrible.

Anyway when Kimmy first moves to New York she is given $13,000 in which she got from TV shows she was in after being released and becoming a ‘Mole Women’. It is then she moves in with a gay black man called Titus (Not his real name but you will find that out when you watch the show) who is obsessed with becoming a famous actor but has to settle for handing out fillers dressed in a fake iron man costume.

End of Spoilers

For me this show is simply fantastic and I found it very hard to look for a fault and trust me I tried, even the place they live isn’t outside of their price range. You see this a lot in sitcoms, for instance in friend at first neither Chandler Monica Racheal or joey could afford to live in those apartment. The way they manage to do this is because they don’t pay rent. Their landlord is a drug addict so that kinda helps when paying the bills.

So in one episodes named Kimmy gets a job, she gets a job. And this is where she meets the third main character of the show a women who married a rich husband and got used to the lifestyle. This women is called Jacqueline Voorhees, she then goes to hire Kimmy to be her personal assistant without even knowing who she really is.

That enough about the show as I don’t want to spoil too much for the people who hasn’t watched it yet.

I simply love this series so much and haven’t watched so many episodes of one series since Netflix’s other major series Orange Is the New Black. Seems to me that any series that Netflix creates become instant gold for me. It is a lot better than BoJack Horseman which is hard to beat as I loved that series as well.

For people who want to watch a comedy series that is unlike any other I have found and will make you fall in love with another show then I recommend that you watch Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt I promise you that you won’t regret it.

I give this series a 9.7/10 and I just wished there were more episodes and that the credits weren’t as long.

Anyway guys this has been Aaron Morrsi and ill see you next time.

Also I know I am back early but I didn’t like not posting for so long.
