The Recruit By Robert Muchamore Review

So this is my first review of a book I have done and to be honest I am really exicted do so, not only that but I also took a very long unintentional break from this blog but that wont be happening again anytime soon. In fact I have got a surprise that is going to be happening in about 2 weeks.

But anyway onto the review of the book.

Quite recently I fell back in love with reading, due to my A.D.D. I find it very hard to sit down and read, which a shame as it is used to be my favourite hobby. However I found out that if I actually consentrate on what I am reading them I am able to focus for a lot longer.

So the first book that I wanted to read was the first in a series I loved when I first had read it a few years ago. The recruit is the first book in the C.H.E.R.U.B. series and I couldn’t wait to start it all over again. I do all of my reading on my amazon kindle fire hd 7 that I had bought a few years ago when it was on sale and it stopped being used for a few months so I am glad that I am using it again.

The story

This is a series that will revolve around the childhood and teenage years of james choke which will be later known as James Adams.

James Choke used to live in a group of flats with his mother and his sister, he never knew who his father was. His family were doing very well for themselves as both James and his sister Lauren got everything a kid would ever want. This wasn’t because there mother was rich or anything, it was because there mother run a group of thieves that could get anything and then she would sell it to other people for a reduce price of what the shops where selling the items for.

James was a very smart boy with an amazing ability with numbers, but he never used it if he could avoid it as instead he would just go through the day not getting good grades and getting into stupid fights. After doing a really stupid thing that involved a girl getting 8 stiches in her face and a teacher going to hospital with injuries James runs home and finds his mon drinking with his step father. His mother is not suppose to be drinking while she is taking tablets  for her knee. James wanted to tell his mother what he had done at school but he was forced to go and pick up his sister lauren from school.

It was later that night after finally getting up the courage he went to go and tell his mother what had happened at school, but he found his mother to be dead. It was the mixture of alcohol and the tablets that made her go into a deep sleep where her heart had just stopped. After a couple of days James and his sister ended up in a children home. But they wouldn’t be together for very long as Lauren got to go and live with her dad, james step dad but he didn’t want james there as ‘he was a bad influence’. So james was left alone in the care home with only one friend and that was the boy that he was sharing a room with. After he had settled in the care home, he was told he had until Friday by his step dad to get all his stuff out of his mothers house or it was going to get trashed. James knew what his mother did and also where she kept all the proits she made. He wanted to make sure that his step dad didn’t get a single penny of it, so he found the safe his mother used and found the code which was hidden inside of a book and managed to get all £40,000 out of the safe. He already knew that Ron (James step dad) had tried to get into the safe but the tools that he used ere not good enough. So he left the book out with the code. But in the safe he left a picture of himself with his mother so that would all that ron would find.

At the foster home James hid £4000 around his room in obvious places so that if Ron came that would all he would find but he hid the other £36,000 In a old tape player which he took all the insides out of.

This turn out to be the best decision that he ever made as a few days later he woke up in a strange new room, in a strange new building. He had woken up in the C.H.E.R.U.B. building and after passing a few tests he was offered the chance to become a member of  C.H.E.R.U.B. which is a section of M.I.5 where they use kids as spies as no one ever suspects the children. After being back at his old foster home for a few hours he makes his decision and the next day he makes his first start at C.H.E.R.U.B.

Before a child is allowed to go on a mission they must pass basic training. This is a training course which is made to be the worst 100 days of their lives. The reason why it is so hard is because if a child is able to handle this then they will be able to handle anything a mission throws at them.

After completing the basic training James is told he is getting a mission, he going to be going to a hippie community and trying to see if anything bad is going to be happening at a close by important meeting in which the deputy prime minster is going to be attending. I am not going to run this part of the book as in my opinion it is where the main story starts so I won’t be spoiling it for the people who haven’t had a chance to read it yet.

My Review

I personally think that this book is amazing no matter what age you are. If you are a child who is reading then you wish that you get the chance to do all the amazing stuff that James gets the chance to. If you are an adult then you wish that your childhood would be the same as his.

I am so happy I bought this and for the price of I think £3.99 I paid for each book in the series It was bargain (it is £6.99 for no kindle version). While reading this I literally couldn’t put it down, I would read it while I was on the bus to and from school, when I woke up and when I was about to go to sleep and I would recommend to anyone that they should go buy this book and give it a chance.

Anyway this has been Aaron Morrsi and ill see you next time
