The Kane Chronicles – The Throne of Fire by Rick Riordan Review

So we are now onto the second book of the Kane Chronicles trilogy so how does this book compare to the first?

So it is 5 days before the summer solstice and it is up to the Kane’s to stop Apophis from eating the sun. So the only way they know how to stop this from happening is to wake up the sun, also known as Ra. So they have got 5 days to find the 3 scrolls of Ra that are required to wake him up, while at the same time avoiding getting killed by the house of life for following the magic of the gods.

My opinion

So is this book as good as the first? Yes it is and if possible it is even better, more action, more gods. So basically everything that was good about the first book has been made even better in this one.

So in the last book it ended with carter and Sadie sending out a message to random people who have got the blood of the pharaohs and are capable of magic. At the beginning of this book they have gotten a lot more response from people of all ages, from as young as 6 to 16. Because of how many new people they have gotten to join their cause it means that more people are studying the way of the gods and that means more gods.

For me I love learning about mythology and if there was a degree for it I would have taken it instead of Computer Game Programming, so for me this book is perfect. Everything is written amazingly, all the information about the gods is all correct and the way that he writes about how scientific fact and mythological fact can be the same thing but not is pretty amazing.

The description of all the major places in the book is done so well that it is almost impossible not to be able to picture where exactly Carter and Sadie are in the world. I also the love the way that he takes original Egyptian artefacts such as the pyramids and sphinx and makes them different and finds way of making them part of the magical world.

Just like the first book it is all told by carter and Sadie on a voice recorder, they then send the recording of the Rick and he makes a book about it encouraging more people to join Nome 21 and help with the magic of the gods. This is a new and interesting style of making a book and it is something I haven’t seen (Expect from the first book of course). It also gives a reason how he knows what is happening without him actually being there and making the book seem slightly more believable.

If you are a fan of the Percy Jackson books then this is another must read for you as it is set in the same universe as the Percy Jackson book and there is even a little mention in this book relating to Percy Jackson. It is said that across the river of Manhattan there can see a horse like figure flying across the sky. This is a reference to Blackjack the Pegasus in which Percy Jackson owns.

I love this book and I am loving this series so if you like to read then give this book a chance and see for yourself just how good this book is. I give this book a 9/10

Anyway I have been Aaron Morrsi and ill see you next time.
