The Fall of Five by Pittacus Lore Review

So we are now onto book 4 of the I am Number 4 series. With most of the garde getting together at the end of the last book, there is only one garde left and that is five. Seeing how he has his name in the title then I guess he is going to be pretty important in this book. Well lets see what I think of the book

The Garde are finally reunited, but do they have what it takes to win the war against the Mogadorians?

John Smith—Number Four—thought that things would change once the Garde found each other. They would stop running. They would fight the Mogadorians. And they would win.

But he was wrong. After facing off with the Mogadorian ruler and almost being annihilated, the Garde know they are drastically unprepared and hopelessly outgunned. Now they’re hiding out in Nine’s Chicago penthouse, trying to figure out their next move.

The six of them are powerful, but they’re not strong enough yet to take on an entire army—even with the return of an old ally. To defeat their enemy, the Garde must master their Legacies and learn to work together as a team. More importantly, they’ll have to discover the truth about the Elders and their plan for the Loric survivors.

And when the Garde receive a sign from Number Five—a crop circle in the shape of a Loric symbol—they know they are so close to being reunited. But could it be a trap? Time is running out, and the only thing they know for certain is that they have to get to Five before it’s too late.

The Garde may have lost battles, but they will not lose this war.

Lorien will rise again.

My opinion

Ive looked online about this book and I have found that a lot of people didn’t like this book all that much with what seems to be the lowest ratings of the series so far. I have got no idea why the reviews are so low on this book as I simply loved it. I will even go as far as to say that I preferred it to the last book and I thought that was possible the best in the series.

The reason why I think this book is better then the last is because it has so much in it in 330 pages im surprised he even got it to fit. In this book we have got the usual action, powers, aliens and a love starting to form and continue, but it also has a death of a garde member, a betrayal, kidnapping and possible the worst dream anyone has ever had.

It is all written amazingly as well, there wasn’t a second where I didn’t want to read this book as whenever something had stopped happening there was maybe 5-10 pages before something new was happening causing more problems for john and the rest of the garde members. To put it simply I haven’t had this much trouble putting a book down in a long time, I even lost numbers of hours of sleep reading this. Good thing my kindle has its own backlight otherwise my grandparents wouldn’t be happy with me reading at 3 in the morning.

I love how after five betrays the garde that you look back at the rest of the book that you have just read and wonder how you didn’t notice how he didn’t really to care about anything other than who he can persuade to join him and the mogs. But probably the best/worst part of the book is where five kills eight. I say worst because I really didn’t want any members of the garde to die, but best because it brings out a whole new legacy out of seven, that icy feeling she gets when she heals she can use it to make everything around her freeze and control the ice that she has created. So this is the total opposite of johns power where he is able to create fire, however I wonder if this is a legacy that six can help with. I say this because six is able to control the elements, even though I cant remember if she has used this legacy with john at all.

Overall i really liked this book and with all the new parts that have been added to the story has made the overall adventure that much more exciting. I’m sad that instead of their being 7 garde fighting the mogs there are now only 4 (Four,Six, Seven  and Nine). With Eight dead, Five a betraying them and ten has been kidnapped she is the only one who can really be returned. I really cant wait to read the next book which I will be as soon as I am done writing this.
