Light by Michael Grant Review

I have finally finished this series, it has been over a year since I first started but now I have finally finished. I’m so glad but also sad as I didn’t want it to end, anyway it is time for the review.

The Story

All eyes are on Perdido beach. The barrier wall is now as clear as glass and life in the FAYZ is visible for the entire world to see. Life inside the dome remains a constant battle and the Darkness, away from watchful eyes, grows and grows… The society that Sam and Astrid have struggled so hard to build is about to be shattered for good. Who will survive to see the light of day?

My Opinion

This has been one of my all time favourite series and it has been great to be able to re read through the whole series (even if it did take me a year to do so). It was like reading the series for the first time as I couldn’t remember anything from the first time I read it. I went from not knowing the character and forgetting what each of the where like personality wise to being able to tell you what each person is like just from their names. I think this goes to show just how well Michael Grant did at writing this series, not only do you know everyone perfectly but you just want to keep on reading to find out if anything else is going to happen for the children of the FAYZ.

This book is shorter than the other but it still has just as much detail as any of the of the others if not more. I kept notcing more about characters that weren’t getting mentioned in the first few books such as Rodger and Justin and when the ending came all I wanted was nothing bad to happen to these two as they had been part of the good guys throughout the whole series.

What I loved about this book was that Michael Grant didn’t just end the book when the wall came down we actually got to see what happened with the after effect of the FAYZ and we find out if anyone has actually managed to survive. Throughout the book you are sitting there trying to read as much as possible in order to finish as quick as possible and find out what happens to each character.

Overall I recommend this book/series to anyone who want to read about people with powers and what they do with them. This series is like a mixture of lord of the flies with a mixture of Avengers so is perfect for a lot of different readers.
