Rick and Morty Season 1 Review

This show has been recommended to me so many times that I just had to watch it as some point and after having a few friends around and this being played in the background I finally got around to watching the first season. Anyway, it is time for a review.

This is without a doubt one of the weirdest shows I have ever watched and I loved every second of it. I was a bit iffy with the first episode as it took a while to kick in and I wasn’t seeing what all the hype was about but then after about 10 minutes I fell in love with Rick and Morty and the overall way the show was. We have got Rick who is an alcoholic who also turns out to be one of the smartest people on earth, and then we have his grandson who is 14 years old obsessed with sex just like every 14-year-old but is totally stupid. I wouldn’t think that these two would be funny together, but it turns out they are great.

I think the show has amazing animation throughout, of course it is not up to the Disney animation skill but still it looks fantastic. With the addition of all the new weird creatures and the way that each new dimension looked I simply can’t fault the way the show looks.

The writing in this show is funny and original, of course some of the jokes are aimed at a slightly darker humour that you would expect but for me that is perfect. When watching the show, you watch to see what new adventure the duo is going to get up to and what situation they are going to land themselves in after starting said adventure but it is every now and then that Rick will come out with a quote that will make you laugh.

Even though the show is mainly focused about comedy every now and then you will get those soft moments and it is at these times that you find out the reason why Rick drinks as much as he does and that even though he doesn’t show it in the normal way he does love Morty like his own son.

If you haven’t yet watched this show then go and give it a go, I know that it won’t be for everyone’s taste but if you like a good story line and dark humour then go and give this a watch. If you have watched the show before then leave a comment to let me know what you thought of the show.
