Pokémon Adventures #4 Manga Review

We are now onto book 4 of the Pokémon adventure series and I have now become addicted with the story as I want to know more about how the life of Red is going to be after he won the Pokémon League. Anyway, it is time for a review.

After he got a challenge to a battle of a mystery person Red has been missing for two months and no one has heard from him in that time. All his friends and family are starting to get worried about him, then out of nowhere his Pikachu turns up outside of Professor Oaks lab. This is when we are reintroduced to Yellow, a trainer that got the help of Red to catch his first Pokémon in the last book. It turns out that Yellow is not like any other trainer and has a few talents. He can heal Pokémon without a Pokémon Centre and he is able to read the thoughts of the Pokémon as well which he thinks will help him be able to find the wear about of Red through Pikachu.

This is the first book in the series that we don’t have Red as the main character and I actually found this to be a nice change. At first I was a bit iffy about the idea but after getting used to the character of Yellow it was nice to have a different point of view. Yellow and Red are very different people, while Blue is one end of the spectrum were all that matters is power, then Yellow is the other end. All he cares about is having Pokémon be friends, he was given Reds pokedex but instead of using it he will catch a Pokémon in danger and release it. the two Pokémon he owns he has drawn into a notebook which is ordered in which Pokémon became his friend first. This means instead of battling like normal by using moves against other Pokémon Yellow will fight smarter and try and think of a way he can basically run away and make sure that Pokémon don’t get hurt.

Art style is the same as the other three and I am still enjoying the art. The style that is used of Yellow is great and I am liking all the blocks that he is in as I think he is a very interesting character to look at with the long hair and big hat.

This has been my favourite book in the series so far and I am looking forward to the next book in the series to see if they are able to find Red.
