Ant Man (2015) Review

As I missed the movie when it was in the cinema I now finally have a chance of seeing it as Netflix (UK) have finally got it. Anyway, it is time for a review.

The story behind this movie is that we follow the life of Scott Lang who is a thief who has just been released from prison and is trying to made a mend of himself so that he can see his daughter. But after not hearing anything from any jobs and getting fired once the job he had found out he had been in prison he goes back to his life of crime. This is when we are introduced to Dr Hank Pym who has been keeping an eye on Scott as he has an offer for him. This offer is to allow Scott to change his life around and can keep in touch with his daughter, all he would have to do is become Ant Man and help Dr Pym with his plan.

I don’t know what to make of this story, I enjoyed the idea of it as I think it was great to find out how Dr Pym got Scott to take up the offer and the story leading off after that was great but it all seemed a little too easy. I would have loved to see there be a bit more of a challenge about if he takes up the job or not.

The movie itself was great as it had a good story with a bit of humour thrown in which was just great, I love this about Marvel movies, where most the movie is serious but there will be something every now and then that will make you laugh as it just isn’t expected.

I think the idea to hire Paul Rudd as Scott Lang/Ant Man was a great idea as I think he suits the role perfectly and I seriously can’t come up with someone who would have been better suited for the role.

Speaking of acting I think that the main actors in the movie all did great and I couldn’t fault one of them. With the great chemistry coming off Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) and Hope (Evangeline Lilly) I thought that they were either going to kill each other or get together which was just great to watch as even though it wasn’t a main part of the movie you still looked forward to whenever these two would meet and see what they would get up to.

Of course, with this being a super hero movie there is going to be some fights scene involved and dear god they were great. As Ant Man, can shrink down in size it was great seeing a fight take place when a toy train is huge and they can hide in a rug. Seeing how Ant Man had to learn how to fight in both small and normal size whenever he would fight you could never tell what form he was going to choose and when he decided on a mixture of the two it just made the scene even better.

Overall this is a great movie and I loved every minute of it and I now cant wait to see more of Ant Man and Paul Rudd in the Avengers movie and hopefully a sequel to this.

If you have got Netflix and want to watch the show then here you go:
