This a new series that Netflix has released and as it was recommended to me and has Cobie Smulders in it I had to watch it straight away. Anyway, it is time for a review.
The story follows a group of 6 friends who have known each other from college, they have been friends for about 20 years and as two of them are moving back to New York it is like a reunion all over again. We then follow the group of friends as they go on about their normal life’s and see how good of friends they still are. One thing that the friend group doesn’t know is that two of them are seeing each other behind their wife and husbands back.
Overall the story is bad, there is nothing to make you want to keep coming back to the show expect for the affair and even then, after a few episodes it just gets boring and seems to be dragged down with the rest of the story. For me the only good episode that had a good story was the last one in the season and that was because so much happened and all the secrets that the group had was spilled to everyone else. This probably was one of the best season finales I have seen in a long time, it is just a shame about the other 7 episodes we had to watch to get to it.
I did not like a single character from this show, Ethan who I assume is the one the script writers are trying to make the funny one is just awful and every time I see him come on the screen I know I am going to get annoyed with the stupid voices he does and how awkward he makes every situation by trying to be funny. He is one of the people that is in the affair and somehow, he even made that boring to watch. Keegan-Michael Key is one of those actors who seem to be in everything voice acting wise but when he comes to the screen he is awful and is a bad choice by the show to hire him.
Cobie Smulders is an actor I do love however especially because of Marvel and How I Met Your Mother and I have yet to see her make anything bad, however this show is probably the worst I have seen her, yes, she has some good parts and you can see her skills in acting come out but other parts I wish she would just shut up as she is adding nothing to the show.
The show is meant to be a comedy, yet I did not find myself laughing once, I have mentioned how Ethan is meant to be the funny but just makes everything awkward. The group make themselves do stupid things to try and make the audience laugh but nothing they do made me laugh and I am the sort of guy who laughs at basically anything remotely funny. This is one of those shows that give a bad name to Sitcoms, but at least they didn’t over use the laughing track
I could have stopped watching after the first episode but I didn’t, and I still don’t know why I did as I just wanted to find out how everything turned out. I wanted to see if anything would come off with the affair, I wanted to see if Ethan and Lisa would be able to have their baby and if Max and Felix would be together by the end of the show. Even though the acting is awful and the story not much better the show does make you want to watch it.
I don’t recommend you watch this show as there is nothing good enough to make yourself sit for 4 hours and watch it. Trust me I did and I regret every second of it.
