Zom-B Bride by Darren Shan Review

Now that I have finished this book I only have two left before I finish this series, feels like I have been reading this series forever which is a good thing. Anyway, it is time for a review.

B Smith has been reunited with the murderous maniac clown, Mr. Dowling. To her shock and consternation, he’s desperate to make B his partner in crime. Mr. Dowling disgusts her, but B thinks she can see a way to control him and maybe even save the world. But it will involve a sacrifice far greater and more surreal than any she has contemplated before…

Taken from Goodreads

When I finished the last book, it stopped with B being taken away by the babies she has had nightmares about all her life and being taken to the place where her worst enemy stays with all his mutants. This book is all about her adventure in the care of Mr Dowling and what he wants with her, turns out he wants to make B his partner, to help him out in his adventure. Of course, B doesn’t want this at all but she thinks of a plan that might make him change his ways.

From start to finish I was enjoying this book this is because it gives us something that we haven’t yet seen from the series and that is getting information about Mr Dowling. A few books back we got information about the Doctor and now we finally get to find out more about his arch nemesis. We find out what he was like before he became a murderous clown and what he really has done with the vial that can kill the whole human race.

This is the first time that we see B use her mind more than her bones (mainly because she doesn’t have any) to win a battle. It was good to see as I thought B was the sort of character with brawn over brains but seeing her being able to outwit her opponents is great and shows she is a master of both.

Darren Shan is one of the only authors who I know that encourages the back story of the secondary character to come out more, and I think a lot more authors should do this. I love finding out more about secondary characters as in some cases they are more interesting than the main ones. I want to find out more about Rage and his back story and I hope it comes up in the coming books as I really think that would be interesting to find out why he is all about fighting and nothing more.

We find out a lot about Mr Dowling’s base and who he lives with, we are also get to see someone from the first book that I can almost guarantee that no one remembers and it was strange to see that the character was still around. The base is exactly what I would come to expect from a mad man like Dowling but the pictures that are included in the book make it look perfect for that character.

This is a great book in the series, not my personal favourite but still up there. Give this series a read and make sure you get to this book to find out even more information.
