Black Mirror Season 3 Review

I have finally got around to watching season 3 of Black Mirror and after loving the first two seasons I am expecting to love the third one just as much if not better. Anyway, it is time for a review.

This season we get a very nice treat as we get 6 episodes to watch and with it being black mirror each one is going to be as good if not better than the last. Nosedive (ep 1) is where all anyone in the world cares about is what rating you are, the higher the rating then the more important you are and the more places you get invited to. We follow the life of a women who is trying to go from a 4.2 to a 4.5 and show everyone she is worth it, will she let the rating take over her life or will she actually take notice of the things that matter? Playtest (ep 2) is about a guy who is needing a bit of money after getting robbed in order to go home from travelling around the world. Being a gamer he sees a job advertised for a game tester of a new virtual reality game. We get to see as he makes his way through the game and see if it is as scary as people say. Shut up and Dance (ep 3) is where people are being recorded through their computers and then being blackmailed into doing what every these people want them to do or the video gets released to all their contacts and ruining their life’s. How far will these people go in order to keep what they have done a secret? San Junipero (ep 4) is a virtual reality world were people are able to visit one town in a number of different years and be able to live their lives again, it is mostly used by older people who are close to dying. While their two people have got a big decision to make and that is if they stay in San Junipero after they die or if they will just pass on. Men against Fire (ep 5) this episode tells the story of Stripe a guy who has joined the army in trying to help defeat the roaches, but as he is doing this he discovers something that doesn’t feel quite right about what he is doing. Hated in the nation (ep 6) is about a world where the extinct bees have been replaced with robotic bees but someone is using them in a different way.

With the amount of episode that we get this series I was looking forward to being able to think more about our world and how Charlie Brooker has made the connections and once again he has done an amazing job. Each and every episode will make you think about the connection to real life and the show and make you wonder what you would do in the same situation. Some of the episode are based on popular theories but the way that Charlie Brooker has written them it makes you think that he knows something that we don’t and it is just amazing writing.

In the last season I could only fault one actor but this time I cant fault even one and I really tried to find one. They all did a great job and played their roles perfectly, I do have to give a shout out to Alex Lawther (Kenny) in playing his role to perfection and after seeing him preform it that way I coauldn’t imagine a better character to play Kenny.

Once again the people behind Black Mirror have done an amazing job and I couldn’t think of a single thing to fault the show. If you have yet to watch this show then trust me on this, watch the first season and see what you think, it is only three episode but I am sure you will love all three and then you will be hooked just like me.
