This is the first Metal Gear game I have ever played, the main reason why it took me so long to get around to playing one is because of the famous cut scenes, I want to play a game not watch a movie, but I thought it was time I gave one a go. Anyway, it is time for a review.
The story is very short as it is up to you, as snake, to go into a military base and find two kidnapped people. You have to do this without getting seen and if you do get seen then hide away till they are no longer interested in finding you. Once you have found the kidnapped victims then you have to call in a helicopter in order to get them to safety. It is after you have done this that things start to no go to plan anymore.
I thought the story was okay, it could have been a lot better and made it a bit more exciting instead of using a very predictable story line. It is also very short so it felt sort of rushed to be able to get to the end of the game once you have done everything that the game asks you to do. I know that this game is a demo of the Phantom Pain game but still if you want people to buy your game at least give them their moneys worth of story.
The one and only mission on the game will take you about an hour to finish, and unless you fancy doing 4 side missions that don’t really add anything to the game except a little bit of a back story then it isn’t really worth your time.
The game looks amazing, I cant take that away from it. Everything from the surrounding area to snakes face have been done in fantastic detail that a lot of the things that you will see look realistic and I certainly wasn’t expecting that.
The music is fine, I liked what I heard but for a game of such high standard like the Metal Gear series I wanted to be blown away by the music not just contempt with what I got.
When this game first game out it was £25, £25 for a demo. This is coming from Konami a company that is very well respected in the game community but this is taking the piss out of the loyal fans of this series. This is the sort of game that gets released on the Playstation or xbox demo section for people to try out and see if they like the game. I paid £4 for the game and I think that is an okay price for what you get but if you are one of the people who paid full price for the game when it first came out then I feel bad for you.
If you are able to get the game for a low price like I did then give it a go as it is only an hour with some optional extras for you to try and with how the game looks it is worth it. But no matter what you do don’t spend any more than that as it simply wont be worth your time.
