As soon as I wrote the review for Pokémon Adventures #8 I dove straight into the next book in the series as I wanted to find out more about Gold and Silver. Anyway, it is time for a review.
The story continues where the last volume left off, we are following Gold as he tries to find out what Silver is doing and try to get the Pokémon he stole back. During this time, we find out that the egg that Gold was given has hatched and the masked man that he battled before he must battle again but this time he does so with Silver, but we learn that the two of them have got history with each other.
The last few chapters off the book we go back to Red and Yellow, Red is trying to become the leader of the Viridian Gym but steps back when he knows that his injuries are too much for a responsibility like this and allows Blue to take his place. Red then finds out that there is a place he can go to heal himself, but it will be very dangerous to do so.
I think the story is amazing in this volume as we find out more about the life of Silver who seems to become more of a main character in this book. We find out a little bit about his childhood and what exactly his plan is for the future. Plus, with the addition of Red, Blue and Yellow added into the end of the book we get to see that the story continues with them which is great as after 7 volumes I got attached to those characters and it was great to see what they are getting up to.
The art is still the same but is still great to look at, I especially love it when an action scene is happening. This is where I think the art is at its best as it shows just how fast paced the Pokémon battles are and how fast the trainers have got think before they are able to predict the next move they are going to make to win. This is the last Volume that Mato illustrated so next volume might have slightly different art.
I think this is a great addition to the series and I am looking forward to the next one in the series.
