Video Game High School Season 1

This is a show I started watching when it first came on YouTube but now it is on Netflix I couldn’t help myself and start watching it again. Anyway, it is time for a review.

We follow Brian D, he is a good Field of Fire player and shows this by beating The Law in a server match. The Law is the best player in the world in the game and it is because Brian beat him that he has been offered a place in VGHS (Video Game High School) to show the world what he is capable off. When he starts the school, he notices that it is not everything that he thought it would be.

The story is pretty good, it makes you keep watch as you never know when a fight is going to happen, and you can never really tell who the winner is going to be. You do start cheering for Brian as you want to see him win and show the world what kind of person he is, especially when it comes to fighting with The Law.

The show looks great especially as it was made on YouTube 5 years ago, I couldn’t find a single thing to fault the show. Everything from the real world to the gaming world looks great. When they are in a fight scene and you see explosions they do look great, my favourite part is when a player is hit then they light up in a specific colour to the team and even this look great which I didn’t think was possible.

The acting however is not so great, I wasn’t expecting anything amazing when I first watched it 5 years ago and I had the same expectations when I watched it this time around but at some points the acting is just so bad it is cringing to watch. This seems to happen a lot with Johanna Brady scenes especially when she is mad, it just doesn’t seem right for me especially when she turns to walk away, I would have expected better from someone who has been in movies before this.

The music is pretty good, nothing to go crazy about but it manages to be in the right place at the right time which some shows can’t manage to do properly so they don’t get any complaints from me.

The show is pretty good, and I am looking forward to getting into season 2, it does make me wish that we had something like this as I would look to be part of that school.

  1. I loved Video Game High School. Fun fact: josh Baylock and Johanna Braddy were married. I always liked that they got together in real life. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out and they divorced after a few years. Also, blaylock is a photographer and you can hire him if you ever wanted to meet him.
